Free, Strong, Independent. And the Bible? – Women in dialogue

Freedom, equality, and self-determination: values for which women have long fought, and whose achievements we are able to enjoy today in many areas of our lives. But what does the Bible actually say about this? What ideas about women and men do we encounter there, and how can we understand them today?

In chapter 11 of 1 Corinthians, we encounter statements about women and men that are unsettling, raise questions, and are still cited today to support traditional gender roles or justify the subordination of women. But what does it actually say there? Why does Paul speak so differently about women and men? How were his words understood back then, and how can we interpret them theologically today?

This evening, let’s take a closer look together: We’ll discuss what these words evoke in us, explore the tensions within the text, and ask what insights it can other us today. An evening for questioning, discussing, and reflecting together, with space for different perspectives, personal experiences, and theological impulses.

Come to the Her Circle—just as you are.
