Dive into the history and prayer life of the Monastery of Einsiedeln
On foot, by bike or by train we will travel to Einsiedeln and discover the history of this place in a guided tour of the monastery, celebrate church services and enjoy convivial moments in the monastery rooms.
The hiking group will cover a distance of 5.5 km from the Biberbrugg stop to Einsiedeln (corresponds to about 1 hour and 15 minutes walking time). On the way we will sing, talk and have a time of silence.
Those who would like to join the bicycle group will cover 11.7 km (1 hour) from the Schindellegi-Feusisberg train stop to Einsiedeln.
Meeting point for both groups at 8:30 am at Zurich HB.
Please remember to buy your train ticket to Biberbrugg (hiking group) or Schindeleggi-Feusisberg (cycling group) in time.
Those who want to go by train may meet us at 11 am at Klosterplatz.
Program
We will start with a church service at 11:15 and then go to a room reserved for us, where we will have time for lunch and social moments. Please bring your picnic. At 2pm we will have a guided tour of the church to learn about the history of the monastery.
Those who wish can stay after the tour to pray, buy souvenirs, or drink coffee, and as a finale we will witness the monks’ Vespers at 4:30 pm.
There is no charge for the guided tour.
If you have any questions, please contact Ewelina Bajor.
