Sisters Share Their Stories – Why I Chose to Become a Sister?

Often, when we talk about life planning, the conversation automatically turns to what career we want to pursue and where and with whom we want to live. These questions are part of our everyday lives. Almost everyone around us has asked themselves these questions or is asking them right now. Whether they’re family members, professors, or colleagues, everyone has chosen a career and a way of life.

Religious sisters, too, have made a choice for their future: a life in community, focused on God. This way of life often remains unseen in our daily lives, or we rarely come across it. Perhaps we don’t even really perceive it as a future option, and what life in a religious order entails isn’t clear to everyone.
At our first themed evening this semester, we want to explore this perspective. And we won’t be doing it alone. We’ll be joined by four sisters from diXerent religious orders: Sr. Isabelle Allmendinger SDS, Sr. Britta Müller-Schauenburg SJ, Prioress Andrea Fux OCist, and Prioress Irene Gassmann OSB. After a brief introduction to the world of women’s orders, these four sisters will answer our questions, oXering their very personal perspectives. They’ll share how they found their calling, why they chose to join a religious order, and what their lives are currently like. Perhaps one or two of them will also talk about a few bumps along the way. And of course, you’re all welcome to ask any questions that are on your mind: the ones you’ve always wanted to ask a nun.

You’re warmly invited to an evening that takes a closer look at the life journeys of four sisters, answering many of our questions, raising new ones, and broadening our horizons in many ways.
Come to the Her Circle—just as you are.
